Samsung CLP-300N β Cheap to buy but is it cheap to run?
The most important thing to check before buying a printer of any kind is the cost of its consumables. This is especially true when buying a budget printer like the Samsung CLP-300n because they are priced cheap and the profit is usually made back through the cost of the consumables. Consumables for the Samsung CLP-300n consist of a single imaging unit, which only need changing every 20,000 pages, a waste toner which needs to changed every 5,000 pages, and of course the four Samsung CLP-300 toner cartridges. The three colour toner cartridges yields 1,000 pages and the black yields 2,000 pages, which are the official figures given by Samsung and these are usually based on 5% page coverage. This gives the printer a cost per page of 2p for black printing and for colour just over 10p. These costs can be reduced by using compatible Samsung toner cartridges that cost half as much as the genuine Samsung printer cartridges. The biggest problem with the CLP-300n is its print quality. Printing plain black text is fine, although itβs a little heavier than most laser printers, but colour graphics appear fuzzy and text printed over colour is far from sharp. Printing speed in mono is pretty average with a speed of 16ppm while colour printing is below average at 4ppm and the CLP-300n has no duplex printing function. The printer has a built in Ethernet card so it is network ready and this a big plus point but overall the Samsung CLP-300n will leave you felling that maybe you should have spend a little bit more on something will better print quality.
